I Can Has Composition
Aug 29th
Made this for a “music technology” class. This little clip was my first experience with music composition. Although techno and electronic music aren’t anywhere near my favorite genres, it was required for the assignment.

The Honors Potty Chart
Aug 20th
I was cleaning up some old photos off my camera and I came across this. As a joke last year in the dorms, I collaborated with a few friends to pull a prank on everyone living on my floor. The story was that Georgia Tech Dining was trying to conserve water, and so therefore they would be testing a “water recycling system” (taking drainage from the toliets to use in the dining halls) in order to encourage students to flush when they use the restroom. It’s amazing how many people fell for this, putting up a sticker every time they flushed, especially considering it was an “honors dorm.” It’s probably even more embarrassing for Georgia Tech Dining. Anyways, my biggest contribution to the project was the “official flyer” seen at the bottom, complete with a toliet resting against the rotting tree.
Spy’s sappin’ mah hurricane!
Aug 19th
A couple of interesting developments today. My hometown of Jacksonville is expected to receive its first direct hit from a hurricane in over 20 years, and the Team Fortress 2 “Heavy Update” was released on Steam. I never thought I would want to be home so soon after coming back to school, but the enviroment around hurricanes is just plain fun. I mean, yeah, they’re dangerous, but nothing is funnier than seeing a weatherman get pelted by a flying sign while talking about how windy it is on television, because the multiple camera angles of trees blowing over just doesn’t do a storm justice. Even funnier than Meet the Sandvich.
Also, running 200 feet of ethernet cable is exactly as difficult as it sounds like it would be.
Jonathan Blew a Bunch on Braid
Aug 18th
The Wall Street Journal says Jonathan Blow invested $180k of his own money into making Braid over a three year period. It’s a damn good game, it’s very indie, it’s totally worth the $15 asking price, and I’m left begging for more…but $180,000 dollars? Does that even still qualify as an indie game? I mean, obviously it does by definition, but that’s an insane amount of cash to unload out of pocket. Hopefully he’ll make enough back, but there’s no way he could have expected to profit off a budget like that from a niche XBLA game.

Finding an Excuse to Work with Games 101
Aug 18th
So this week marks the beginning of my second year at Georgia Tech. In the past, I’ve said things like I’m “looking forward to this class” or “this could be interesting.” For the first time, I think I’m legitimately excited for a class. Does that make me a nerd? Absolutely, but that shouldn’t be a surprise if you’re reading this blog. More >
Jacksonville Skyline: Lots of Blue
Aug 7th
I took this photo for a website I’m working on. Jacksonville is actually a pretty city from this angle. Taken from the Riverwalk at Friendship Park. Click the picture to download the full size (8394×1595), but let me know if you plan to use it in one of your own projects.
